Walking On The Moon
Sustained Investigation
“How does confusion and absurdity play an effect on stylization of a photo?”
Week One/Confliction

^ This image appears as a prominent figure who would be respected pointing something at an average person, the figure is slightly blurred to show the conflicting importance and unimportance of themself.
^ This image shows three conflicting memes that the subject is facing at once, while being within the realm of ridiculousness as it is a strange scene.

It is rather strange to see two weapons against each other like this, power against strength, future against class: Conflict. It also is in a purple hue to show no side as good or bad, blue or red, and can be seen as both or neither.
Week Two/Trusting

^ This image is rather simple: A painter. Or is it really that simple. The less vivid colors create an uneasy setting, along with the mix of a slight glow next to a grey "natural" light. All of which was brought together to make this seem suspicious and so crazy to think about.

^ Electric Eye: A torn poster below a camera with an uneven blur. This image is to represent censorship and fear from an unknown, intimidating source. Along with dying vibrance, this image is also uneasy.

^ Less about the viewers suspicion of others, but more of themselves. This is a test of trust and if you will pass. The objects themselves are blurred as they aren't important. What you do to them is. One might go crazy while trying to decide.
Week Three/Emptiness

^ Dark, cool room. But it is missing something, someone. This image was not just done with a boring uneasy feeling, but was cooled down to make the viewer seemed relaxed. It is still a suspicious scene, where the crazed value comes from. The dark and empty wall seems abstract to relaxation, and so drives anxiety. Would you read here?

^ Dark and empty, but not quite. This image has a contrast of dark and light that highlights some objects while leaving out context. What is being pictured? What are those things in the dark? Is there something in the light? This image was captured for the purpose of the viewer to see this abstract site and try to determine what it could be.
< This image could be considered a liminal space. It is rather abandoned but is still alive. The purpose is to make the viewer ask why, which only happens from the darker landscape. The blur is simple but makes it feel more unknown and empty. Something you know has detail.
Week Four/Hostile Nature

^ A thorn bush. It seems strange that someone beautiful would be so dangerous, but when you see through the eyes of the plant, it just wants to survive. This image is reflective of humans who seem great but hold greater power. The blurred background shows that more could be out there, you just don't know

^ Humans building fast for themselves results in many cases like this. Ugly mud on rocks that never dry. It isn't really ugly, but different. This image shows the result of humanity against nature, which shows what should be normal. Instead, it is hated for what it was forced to become.
^ Between those other two, this image is a representation of grit. Although humans try their best to stop nature, it can persevere. The detail of the stone shows effort while the extended natural light shows the subject in a ray of hope. It is also free-lensed. Seems crazy to think about, it is just a plant.
Week Five/Political

^ Any political activist will usually gather a crowd and keep them riled. A gathering for students and allowing free speech? Now it gets dangerous. The angle of the photo is to make the viewer feel as they are in the crowd and that they have to look at the speaker who finds everyone equal, still derives authority. But yet the speaker cannot even be seen by most.
^ What is a protest without a counter-protest... Yeah, it gets strange. However, the picture may just show the people who have an opposite view, but it makes a greater scene for those interested, as many in person gave it no thought. No matter the difference, a protester is regarded as ridiculous and crazy no matter what they do. Is the other side better? Maybe the dead can answer.

^ During this political event, hats were given as gifts at various times. It may seem simple, but a man could argue how it promotes one side when their debate is week. That man might also be crazy. (Given that a private jet gave a flyby earlier, anyone could have been shaken up). Regarding the picture, it was a wide angle that shows two sides of the crowd, presenting both emotions. The receiving side seems excited but serious, hiding an emotion that could be anger. The giving side is also no better, perhaps being angry in inequality of treatment of the crowd or the opposite. Many can be seen, which is why the picture is cropped as it is, for an interpretation made by the viewer.
